Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S., behind smoking. Due to the nature of this gas, every home has some level of Radon, new and old. Each home is different, your neighbor's house could have low levels, but yours may not. These reasons are why the EPA has established a set of parameters to determine if radon mitigation is recommended. Anything higher than 4 pCi/L is recommended for mitigation. This test can be performed as a stand alone or in addition to the inspection.
